Behind the scenes on my last portrait session

Today I had a little portrait session with one of my best mates, Frederik. We have been talking about these portraits for a long time, and now we finally found some time to get it done.

I shot the pictures with my beautydish and my softbox, and I am actually kinda happy with the result - check it out:

A little behind the scenes picture, this time from the models view:

Natural light

Hey,

in this post I will tell you a little bit about how I shot a bunch of portraits  - without any expensive lights and even without my beloved beauty dish! Shot with my Nikon D100, 50mm f/1.8, ISO 400 and 1/100 sec.

I have been talking with a lot of photographers about how to make my pictures kind of unique, because I am getting told "Oh, your pictures are way too similar" - so here I go, and tried something new. And I am kinda happy with the result!

The window I used was a big velux window at my room, and as a background I used my large 105cm silver reflector, using the black side.

Thank you,

Thor.

On location: What do I use?

Hey you guys.

Today I am gonna tell you a little bit about what I use when I am shooting on location. I am not a pro photographer with a lot of lights such as umbrellas, softboxes, beautydishes etc - I LOVE using the natural light.

Here is my stuff lined up:

  • My old Nikon D100 camera
  • Nikon SB26 flash + batteries (from TIGER) and my two radio triggers from
  • Nikon 105mm f/2.8 macro VR NANO lens
  • Sigma 70-20mm f/2.8 HSM APO lens
  • Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens
  • Hairspray (if the model needs a little burst to set the hair the right way ;))
  • A 5-in-1 reflector from NEWER. About 110cm.

What do you use?
